Baseball Initiation

Sadie attended her first Major League Baseball game courtesy of the Stanford GSB. Unlike her father, she came prepared for the chilly San Francisco evenings with several warm layers. When Paul got cold, she was generous enough to share her cozy pink blanket with him. He kept wrapped up in it until he realized how silly it looked, at which point he stuffed the pink blanket under his t-shirt for warmth. Eventually a woman sitting near us offered her extra coat to Paul, who gratefully accepted. Later in the game, Sadie proved to be good luck when her crying made us relocate to a less-crowded section. That section turned out to be the section that won gift certificates during a between-inning game, and although our tickets were somewhere else, we got the prize. Her good luck even extended to the Giants, who went on to win the game.

  • She looks like a porcelain doll in that cute picture. One with great wisdom--who knew you would need warm clothes in August?

  • Come on, Amy! Allowing your child to pass good luck along to the Giants?!? I thought you were better than that.
