Kite Flying

One great thing about living near large bodies of water is that there is always a breeze, making kite-flying a year-round activity. In fact, one local park has a designated "Kite Flying Area" where hard-core kite fliers show off their skills and stunts with their $400 kites. James and Sadie and their $5 Thomas the Train kite were not intimidated by the seasoned veterans, however. Sadie put them all to shame by successfully executing the no-hands-eyes-closed kite flying trick. And instead of being impressed by the fancy kite-flying going on around him, James was entranced by the digger and compactor he spotted just outside the park.

  • Amy your blog is charming as ever. I'm so glad adding another baby to the fam hasn't caused you to lose any wit.

  • Amy, did the Bankheads require you to learn the proper names of large construction vehicles as a prerequisite to the marriage? I know how Paul is about his professional grade equipment. Lila, still calls them all "snorts". (See 'Are You My Mother?' if you don't know why.)

  • I feel comfortable channeling the girls interests into dreams about adult vocations. Grace - animanls - Vet, Lille - school - teacher.

I can't quite embrace Maxwell's fervor for all things with wheels. Yesterday he told me that when he grows up he will buy a motorcycle and a race car. Then he went home and played with his cars making them "die" and crash.

James will be a construction driver, and Maxwell will be an organ donor.
