The Costumes

Fun facts about our Halloween costumes:
  1. Amy's mom made the clown costume 25 years ago. Six kids and 2 patches later, it's still a crowd-pleaser. In fact, it took Amy and James 20 minutes to leave Googleween because people kept stopping to ask if they could take a picture of the clown. Even more impressive, James loved the costume and insisted on wearing it all day, including to the babysitters and during his nap.
  2. Paul hates costumes, dressing up, Halloween, and holidays in general. Amy's persuasive skills barely got him to wear the shirt. Forget the skin-tight bell-bottom jeans she had envisioned. (He's got the perfect body to pull off the look.)
  3. Amy's costume is a vintage polyester original from the 70s. Please note that the bottom half is pants. Also, jumpsuits are less-than-practical for the pregnant woman who might need to use the toilet--you have to figure out how to undo the back zipper by yourself and then take the whole darn thing off.

  • Amy-
That costume and James are the cutest things I have ever seen. I can understand why is took you twenty minutes to leave! And Paul I must side with Amy you can totally pull off the look!

  • You know, I saw you at the trunk-or-treat and I still didn't realize your outfit was pants Amy. You did look stellar. And James needs to wear his costume to nursery.

  • What a shame. If you had only posted these pictures last night. I could have spent the evening mocking Paul. It was fun having him come by and visit. He ended up holding our twins half the time and spent the other half keeping Lila occupied while I was on the grill. I hope we haven't made him too scared about your little #2 that is on the way.

  • Way cute costumes. I'm impressed that you have a costume that you can wear while pregnant. I didn't even attempt it.

  • Thanks, Johnny, for keeping my husband out of trouble while he was away. You did give him some reality medicine for parenting, but what he said was, "Man, having three is going to be busy." So we're safe for a few more years.

  • I don't know about that couple of years though, Amy! Paul told us he wants to have lots of kids as fast as he can so he can take full advantage of Google's paternity leave! :) It is crazy busy but so fun at the same time. Paul didn't get to see the babies at their best time of day but he was great holding both of them (at once!) It was sure fun to see him! Lila woke up this morning and the first thing she said was "where's Paul??" Know you're missed Paul! (Sorry for the long post!)

  • The clown is too cute. I would want pictures of him too.

I have to say those are perfect costumes for Paul and Amy. I always envisioned y'all living in the 70s.

  • Paul would've really done well in those tight poly pants - but you're all so darn cute anyway.

  • OK, did I miss something?? Pregnant??? #2 on the way???

btw, the costumes are very groovy!! James is by far the cutest clown I've seen, except for some 25 years ago, when Amy was wearing the costume!

    Congratulations on #2!!!
