Spring Break in Maui
Paul was skeptical about Hawaii. ("We live on the coast. Why should we fly for 4 hours to go to the beach?") One session of snorkeling in Maui's warm, clear water, and he was instantly converted. Although we spent most of our time rotating between the beach, the hotel's playground, and the pool, we took advantage of our jet-lagged children's 3 AM wake-up time to drive to the 10,000 foot summit at Haleakala National Park for a windy and frigid sunrise above the clouds. We also allowed Amos his first taste of Hawaiian shave ice. Strangely, he seemed to prefer mouthfuls of beach sand.

Whew, that does look cold up there, but so cool that you were above the clouds!
