Big Sur
The Bankheads have been in the Bay Area for nearly 5 years now, and we just recently spent our first day exploring Big Sur. Perhaps James and Sadie will take such beauty for granted, having grown up here in California, but Amy and Paul will never get over the novelty of hiking through wilderness and ending up at the beach.

We went to Big Sur when Sam was really tiny. While there we met this "local" who was very chatty. We asked him what Big Sur was, exactly, meaning geographically what Big Sur referred to. His response was, "Well, some might say that Big Sur is a state of mind." Loved it. We haven't been back, but would love to go--it's so gorgeous. Thank goodness that it's fairly uninhabitable and therefore preserved!
