Biking Revisited
Shortly after the odometer on his bike reached 2000 miles, some minor surgery necessitated that Paul take a break from biking to work. After several bikeless weeks, Paul used some of his paternity leave time (yay California!) to introduce James to the wonderful world of bicycling. The trailer and pink helmet (both borrowed from our neighbors in exchange for some PVC cutters) were such a hit with James that he requested three encores around the block before Paul had to pry him, kicking and screaming, from the trailer.

It's so fun biking with kids. We used to have a seat on the back of my bike and when we only had 2 I'd put Max in the seat and Tru in the baby bjorn and go for short rides. It's even fun when they ride along with you on their own bikes. Biking is great! Pink helmets and all.

Paternity leave? How cool is that! Is is state law that companies provide that for their employees, or do you just work for someone really cool?

Yeah for biking! The weather the last few days has actually been nice enough for biking. Max has decided to try out learning to ride on a big bike. Gotta love it.

good question, teacher mama. the answer is both. the state requires that companies offer new dads 6 weeks of family leave time at 50% pay. Google ups it to 80% pay. very sweet indeed. it's almost as if these CA liberals have family values and think that fathers are parents too. shocking!

Those bike trailers are so addictive! If I don't put away my helmet and gloves, Brooklyn insists that I put them on and we go for a ride.
Then again, maybe Lori taught her that so I would clean up after myself. It might not actually have anything to do with the trailer.
