London 2018, Side Trip to York

Best-preserved city walls in England--parts were built by the Romans in the first century!
York Minster is 700 years old and hauntingly impressive.
Clifford's Tower, where many groups have played fatal rounds of King of the Hill.
Patrolling the ramparts
York is Amy's favorite city in England, although her sample size is small. York's history is rich, having been a Roman city, then a Viking city, then of course the namesake for New York.  York is also home to "The Shambles," which is the street that inspired Diagon Alley. We rode the train from London,  enjoying great scenery the whole way. Our hotel was the best of our trip; not only did it have A/C (very rare), but the staff left candy and gifts for the children.
