Adventures by Day, Misadventures by Night
After returning from Elizabeth Lake and diapering James, we set up our campsite. Forgetting who is really in charge of our family vacations, Amy and Paul excitedly planned out hikes for the next five days. Sadie and James, on the other hand, conspired to end our trip a few days early by coordinating a brutal schedule of waking up screaming on alternate hours of the entire night. Paul took refuge in the Nimbus 2000, sleeping soundly while Amy battled freezing temperatures and inconsolable children in the tent. The people camping next to us loved it--and left for another campsite at first light.

We went camping with our little crew over the 4th of July weekend (no hiking). I was worried we would be done after one day, but we set up the pack-n-plays inside the tent and the kids didn't miss a beat. They even took normal naps in broad daylight. Of course our kids are used to the disaster that it often is having all of them in one room.

we feel your pain. we went camping a few times this summer and had the same thing happen. we tried like johnny did with the pack-n-plays and it seemed to help.

Paul looks miserable. And he's the one who slept in the van. Some day you can give your kids hell when you go crazy and do weird things all the time in the middle of the night. :) I love you.

Oh Amy, well do I remember a camping trip at the Spruces when you were the baby that screamed all night long. Tell Paul it's not a genetic thing!
